Creating Band-Notched Characteristics for Compact UWB Monopole Antennas

چکیده
In 2002, the FCC in the US authorized the unlicensed use of the ultrawideband (UWB) frequency spectrum for commercial applications in the range from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz with an emission limit of -41.3 dBm/MHz which is near to the thermal noise floor [1]. UWB communication systems operating in such a wide frequency band and low power emission level could easily be interfered by the existing nearby communication systems such as the Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) operating in the frequency bands of 2.45-GHz (2.4– 2.484 GHz), 5.25-GHz (5.15–5.35 GHz) and 5.75-GHz (5.725–5.825 GHz) [2] and the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) systems operating in the 2.35GHz (2.3-2.4 GHz), 2.6-GHz (2.5–2.69 GHz), 3.35-GHz (3.3-3.4 GHz), 3.5-GHz (3.4–3.6 GHz), 3.7-GHz (3.6-3.8 GHz) and 5.8-GHz (5.725–5.85 GHz) bands[3]. Many countries such as the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Argentina and India etc. will allow at least four of these bands in operations [3]. In such cases, the UWB systems could be affected by several interference signals. These interference signal could be suppressed by using RF filtering.

Multi Attribute Analysis of a Novel Compact UWB Antenna with Via-fed Elements for Dual Band Notch Function (RESEARCH NOTE)
A compact microstrip-fed antenna with dual notched bands is proposed. First, a simple basic configuration is presented for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) applications and then the dual band notched structure is extended from the UWB one. The basic structure of the UWB antenna consists of a simple square radiating patch and a ground plane with a wide square slot on back of the substrate. A semi-circle sh...

A printed monopole ultra wideband (UWB) antenna with frequency band-notched characteristics is proposed and investigated. The antenna consists of a half-disk shaped structure combined with an inverted isosceles trapezoid structure. To achieve the frequency band notched characteristics, an open-ended thin slit with a length of about one quarter guided wavelength is inserted on the radiator. Mult...

A novel compact UWB antenna with 3.5/5.5 GHz dual notch-band characteristics is presented. The proposed antenna has a simple structure and compact size of 30 × 35mm2. Firstly, a compact modified rotated monopole antenna that covers UWB band is achieved. Then by inserting a λ/4 stub and etching two symmetrical λ/4 L-shape slots on the UWB antenna achieved before, a dual band-notched ultra-wideba...
متن کاملA Novel Small E–Ring Shaped Monopole Antenna with Dual Band-Notch Function for UWB Wireless Communications
This paper presents an E-ring shaped printed monopole antenna for UWB applications with dual notched bands performance. In order to generate single frequency band notch function, we applied a U-ring shaped monopole antenna, and by inserting a rectangular ring in the centre of it an E-ring shaped radiating patch created and a dual band-notch function can be achieved. The measured bandwidth of th...

A compact printed ultra wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with multi-notched characteristics is presented. By inserting multiple E-shaped slot in micro strip feed line and ground plane, additional resonances are excited. The multi notch has been created by embedding a pair of – L shaped arm in the radiating patch and a modified E-slot defected ground structure in the feeding line. The designed an...

In this article, we present a new design of a coplanar waveguide fed (CPW-fed) ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics. Two notched frequency bands are achieved by using two inverted U-shaped stepped impedance resonators. The proposed antenna can operate from 2.82 to 11 GHz (118%), defined by VSWR< 2, except two notched bands around 3.5 GHz (WiMAX) and 5.5 GHz (WLAN)...
